why cant i turn off the W in the automation module?

for some strange reason everytime i load a new or old project or custom templete my automation button has a slash through it(the one usually visable in the controlbar)..its not really causing any problems as far as i can tell. i would just like to know how to turn it off...to go in to detail..its that little W  -for write in the automation module only... always has a slash through it..please feel free to elaborate.

see avatar for details.(the red slash through the W )

no john..its actually in the control bar..look at my avatar..thats a snap shot of my automation module(i have it right next to the transport module)im totaly aware of what this does..but i cant seem to figure out why i cant shut it off..not a x1b patch problem..been there awhile now..its doing no harm as i can tell..automation is worknig fine.its also not on any individual track modules on console or t.v...just the control bar
    thanks john..

Mine is solid red in the automation module for that project. Which is what I would expect with it having automation in it. It also has a slash red line in it too.

I have no idea what it all means. The track in question is not a full track it has a clip in it a long one but a clip just the same. That is the only track with automation. Its just volume automation.

I think that is simply the button's icon. That button is the "Clear all automation write enables" button, so a red dash through the center makes sense to me. The button will also turn red if any automation writes are enabled in the project. I don't know. I could be wrong.
