Petition to return native SF2 (SoundFont) support to Sonar X1

Please sign here to back up the request for native SoundFont support in Sonar X1 and future versions.

Why the native SoundFont support is so important?

Using Creative X-Fi Titanium (modern PCI-Express Audio Card) is possible to load up to 4GB of samples in the memory under 64bit Windows 7. The chip on X-FI Titanium is native hardware sampler with built in effects, zero latency and absolutely zero load on system!

Till now it was possible to choose the SoundFont samples for each channel within Sonar and make them part of the WRK/CWP file so you have everything loaded and ready to play in less than a second. With no doubt this is the most easy and light setup to use! Now it is gone!

I feel your pain. I kept a creative card in my system for years specifically for that reason. I felt like this day way gonna come eventually. I'm in the process of converting old projects to SFZ+ in 8.5 for X1. It's a serious pain.

I will appreciate if more people join the petition.

    Thank you!

And hopefully Cakewalk Staff will read it.

I was about to buy Sonar X1 and I was so badly surprised. Literally I don't know what to do. Currently trying to find another DAW with embedded SoundFont Manager.

Why not just use Sfz+. It's available for free download at the Cakewalk website. that's where I got my copy.

When did SONAR have native support for soundfonts? I only ever accessed them via creative hardware.

Yes, I don't believe the term "native support" is being used accurately here.  But if someone was still using a Creative card, they could access the SoundFonts through a Sonar menu item - That wasn't available in 8.5 though, it was let go previous to 8.5 apparently?

I do understand that people still relying heavily on SoundFonts don't want to work differently than how they have, but quite frankly, the sound quality of SoundFonts has been so far surpassed now.  Even so, I've used SoundFonts, and still do at times, but I've never owned a Creative card - I wanted to get an actual interface that works well with Sonar.  I've always used the SFZ players.

I think for most people, we're talking about an out-dated thing, but one we can still have access to if we want.  In the meantime, we have much more flexible sample players, instead of the literal on/off triggering that SoundFonts offered, and that distinctive SoundFont ending of sounds which wasn't very natural--.  I think most of us are happy to use other things, and still use SoundFonts when we want to, with the tools we have.

is this now an officail petition?..cause if it is im using sfz..it is a free download.
though soundfonts are very useful i just dont see it as a big enough following to implant it.
unless all you use are soundfonts..if thats the case then how many people are just like you(just using soundfonts)i dont think alot.im curious to see how many people will want in on this..seriously.

edit-sorry sfz has already been mentioned..not paying enough attention.
