Roll off lows on the voice (highpass filter @ 100 or so). Bass is cool. Kick could use some snap (feels a bit lost).

Bring the kick up some more somewhat closer to the base in level. Really nice song. Reminds me of Phil Collins in style or Sting at times. Very well done. Could use a tad more dynamics. Perhaps less compression.

That's a nice sounding tune. I never heard it before the suggested changes, but it sure sounds good at this point. I especially like the way the background vocals are mixed/processed. Being a guitar player, and a counter melody freak - I have one small suggestion. At 1:17 through 1:40 (I believe it's the chorus of the tune) is a great counter melody on guitar in the mid-register (this repeats later in the tune as well). I would listen to the way INXS used to place their counter melody guitar parts in a mix (Need you Tonight & Devil Inside in particular) and try it there. A little dryer, a little louder. Both about 5%-10% changes, nothing drastic. As soon as I heard that part I wanted it to jump a little more which is why I'm suggesting it. Please keep in mind that is nothing more than my opinion - it still sounds great as it is. Besides, if you try to please everybody, nobody is going to like it - LOL!
Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take! I uploaded another version but it still needs work. There's alot going on, too many parts sometimes & I may need to 'trim the fat off' so to speak. It's always interesting to hear about things I may have overlooked or never thought about so thanks for your comments/ opinions. -c

I like your style a lot, good songwriting. I am no pro but I would bring the drums up a little and bring the bass up a bit too. Right at the end the strings seem too loud to me... but please, these are not complaints. I think you are realy good. You style reminds me a lot of Owsley, especially his album that is self titled Owsley. You should give it a listen, I think you would like it. Thank you for sharing both your talent and the power of X1. OMG... I looked up a link and he died last year.. what a loss... anyway, here is the link and I recommend Owsley to you. http://www.owsleymusic.com/home.html Some clips here: http://www.amazon.com/Owsley-OWSLEY/dp/B00000I8TT/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300314408&sr=8-1 I think you'll hear the similarity. I hope you do well, the world needs more good music like yours. What a catchy tune!! Julien

I checked out Owsley's music, great artist & writer. A real shame about his suicide. I can hear alot of different influences in his material, some of it reminded me of a modern day version Squeeze. Great stuff, thanks for the turn on. -c

Another beauty. I would also recommend bringing up the drums a bit. Great vocals and vocal harmonies. I continue to love how you've weaved in some fusion. Really great music Carl. Can you tell us if you did this all yourself or are you working with a band?

Carl, This is a very nice tune. The drums could really come up in the beginning. Around 1:00 they seem better? Did you boost them here? That's probably the level you want. Other than that it sounds great to me. Vocals are really great, as are the guitars, bass, etc ... Really Nice Job!

I am re-working my kit & mix a bit, a version will be up in a day or two. I'll definitely check it out though. Thanks for the kind words/ comments, appreciate it. -c

Can you tell us if you did this all yourself or are you working with a band? Hi guitarek, Thanks for your comments. I just uploaded a newer version trying to sort out the mix. No band here, an internet collab with the singer on one of my tunes. With a busy schedule I just had a chance to listen to some music posted here. I really enjoyed your music. Tasteful playing & tunes you're releasing, very nice material! cheers, -c
