Anyone here own a Rode NT1-A mic? Now with picture.

I own one and noticed that it has a little blue ring that looks like plastic, inside where you plug in the mic cord. I do not know if this is supposed to be there or if I need to remove it.

Because of this I can't get the mic cord to click all the way in. I'm guessing I need to remove it but I want to be sure.
Anyone know?

Thanks! (sorry for the crappy pic)

My Rode M1 has the blue ring. But my NT2-A doesn't! I've lost the little book that came with the M1 but I think it explained that the ring was so certain XLRs would fit properly. It is safe to remove it.

Edit: just found it (back of quality assurance tickbox, not manual)

"To ensure a quality, captive connection to most styles of XLR cable connectors, all Rode microphones are supplied with a rubber padding ring inside the XLR output socket.

This blue ring can be simply removed if the XLR cable connector has trouble fitting into the socket."

My Rode NT1 never had a blue ring so it kind of explains why it's been a little strange around here...

My NT-1 does not have a blue ring.

Reading the manual... what a concept!

They are politely speaking about those old Neutrik connectors that needed a rubber O-ring to sit tightly.

Cool thanks guys. I'm keeping it in the just in case.

I remember reading the manual when I bought the mic along time ago and didn't remember anything about the ring. Oh well.

And I agree it's a great mic for the price.

    No ring in mine.
Great mic - use it all the time.
On female vocals what out for sibilance around 7k.
I usually dip there 3-4dB just too tame it as once in recording it is hard to get out cleanly.
Mic also benefits from a valve pre-amp where is warms up nicely.

There is also a mod which u can get on Ebay by sending it away which is supposed to really make it sound good. Have not tried that myself.
