What mirrioing/backup software are you using with X1?

Hi,

With all the problems with X1 I was just curious what everyone is using as backup/mirroring software?

For my system disk, I use an older mirroring product called Drive Image by Power Quest mainly because I am still on XP. This program has been a lifesaver a number of times - I can restore my C drive in about 15 minutes and it has been very reliable. I also like Power Quest because the restores are done from a non-windows environment (backups are created in Windows). This way, if your system non bootable, you can still do a restore.

For my data drives, I use a freeware product called SyncBack by 2BrightSparks which allows me to do sequential backups. Again, it has been very reliable.

The newer products I am aware of are Acronist True Image, Norton Ghost, and O&O Disk Image.

Is anyone using anything special for the newer solid state drives?

Thanks for the feedback

Not sure what you mean by mirroring. True mirroring uses simultaneous writes, so it's not a good recovery method, as both drives have the same data always.

If you mean disk image software, like Ghost, etc., I find Acronis to be very friendly and reliable. I don't use disk image software much, as total system crashes are relatively rare. I'm more out to protect against "pilot error" in deleting content and project files. I use JungleDisk and Amazon's S3 storage to dump data files up to the cloud.  If the Sonar app. ever gets borked, I'd try a windows system restore, but reinstalling the app. would probably be in my near future.

It's the data files that I'm most interested in protecting. Good topic, I wonder what others use.

Acronis True Image here. I only image my DAW once a week now mainly as it's music only and I only ever get a couple of days work in at most. I take separate images for system and another for data.

It is a take away though, you never know.
