Various Questions

Ok, I have a few questions, and any that can be answered are much appreciated.

My main problem is that I am using the SONAR LE that came with my C01U Condenser Mic and a Casio WK-200 Keyboard.  I'm trying to record multiple things, some through the condenser, and some through the keyboard, but when I try to make the keyboard recording play through the speakers I have hooked up to my computer, it is very latent.  I have the Microsoft GS Wavetable, and I'm assuming this is the problem.  Is there anyway for me to make all of the tracks come through my speakers at the same time?

Also, another random question...What does the "LE" in SONAR LE stand for?

Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.

    LE is a Limited or Light  Edition, means a cut down one.

    Your mic is a USB-one, isn't it? There's a sticky on this forum about using them. They are not recommended for DAW work. They're OK for simple voice-overs and such. Your PC sees it as a separate soundcard and problems follow. You integrated soundchip doesn't work in sync with the USB-mic- soundcard.
    Most likely you can not record anything simultaneously with your rig, because the integrated soundchip of your PC is equally incapable of fluent DAW-work.

    A proper audio interface with MIDI-connection and a normal microphone make fluent recording possible.

    You don't mention whether you're trying to record MIDI or audio with your keyboard. I assume it's MIDI because you mention Wavetable synth. Unfortunately LE doesn't include proper soft synths unless you got the Production Pack.

    Also, what's your PC like?

    Yes, it is USB.  I'm not sure what you mean by DAW work, but I'm just using them to record instruments such as a trumpet and sax.  I'm recording MIDI with my keyboard, and I'm using a vista.  I'm not necessarily trying to record at the same time.  I guess my main problem is that when I press a key on the keyboard and output it through the keyboard speakers, it works fine, but when I output it through the computer's speakers, it slows down.  I'm still a little unsure about all of the details, but I think I get what you're saying.  What kind of a set up would you recommend for recording live instruments (one at a time) and recording MIDI keyboard?  Obviously, I'm new and trying to learn about all of this stuff.

    Thank you for your help.

    A forumite named Beagle has listed some suitable soundcards of different price range on his website. It doesn't need to be expensive, but if it has ASIO-drivers written for it, XLR-connection for microphone, phantom-power for condenser mics and a MIDI-connection it's good for what you describe. MIDI-keyboards with USB-connection work usually OK, so that MIDI-connection isn't essential. I just tend to trust the old MIDI-cable.

    The delay you describe, latency, is controlled in the Options dialogue, as well as the driver mode, but still knowing nothing about your computer I can't say anything about it's potential.

    DAW=Digital Audio Workstation.
