feedback noise when arming to record in Sonar 8

Hi,

I just purchases the V studio 100 and when i arm a track to record a midi combination in Sonar 8, there is a single shrill note, sounds like a horror film, that continually plays back through my Korg Triton and it records, along with the midi recording,  in Sonar 8.  When I stop the recording, the note is still playing on the Triton until I switch the mode on the Korg to kill it.  Can you help me get rid of this?

My midi track is set up as follows;
I- all inputs omni
o-Triton extreme

The Bus is set up as follows:
VS 100 out 1-2

Thanks,
Alan

Sounds like the track you are recording has it's Midi (input) Echo set incorrectly.
    • In the Track View - you will see a row of icons along the top (maybe crossing over to a new line)
      M (Mute)
      S (Solo)
      R (Record)
      ))) (input echo)
    • Try chaning the input Echo. There are two choices. "On & Auto Thru". I'm not 100% sure which one you need, but changing it should fix this problem.
    Good luck.

Unfortunately that didn't change anything, thanks anyway.  Are there any other suggestions?  Every time the software tries to record through the Triton Xtreme I get a steady high-piched feedback type noise playing through the monitors.  The only way to stop the note from playing is to switch the mode setting, i.e. from "combi to seq" on the keyboard.

    Thanks for your help,
    Alan

Sorry to hear that didn't help! Hopefully someone else will jump in with a solution for you.
I use a controller to record midi and don't route back to outboard synths so I'm limited in my knowledge in this regards.

One suggestion I do have is moving (or re-posting) this problem on another form. It seems to be a problem between your Keyboard and Software not with the VS-100 - so it should likely be on the "Gear > Software", or "Gear > Hardware" forum. You might even want to try the "SONAR Producer and Studio" forum. Most Sonar 8 users hang out there and this is something they could likely solve very quickly. The VS-100 forum isn't very active, so it may not get solved here.

Good luck with your problem - sorry I couldn't have been better help!
