Talk back studio mic press to talk button etc any recomendation ?

Hi all

I am looking to find a way to have a talk back between controll room and live room

Whats the best way to do this I dont want to buy a mackie Big Knob and I could arm a track and mute it when I dont want to talk but I know I would keep forgeting to turn it off

So is there a mic out there I could buy cheep with a puch to talk button (like a walkietalkie I guess )

Or could I buy some sort of switch to go between a mic I have and a cable runing in to the desk

Any other options anyone can think of would be a great help

Another trick is to make a little box with a switch or doorbell button and to put in line with any old mike. It's nice to use a button so you don't accidentally call the singer an a-hole when you thought the switch was off!

Haha So you have heard me in a control room then haha

You know I never gave a CB Radio mic a thought ! My dad used to be a massive CB user back in the 70s to 80 I am sure there are load of things still in the loft so I will have a loot and see if theres anything I can use :)

If not I guess a switch would the answer I would have to make it a hold and talk button or I would turn it on and forget about it haha

A foot switch would be nice or make a locking one so you can push once to turn on the mic and push again to mute it.
But the CB mic would be fun... "KJC1696 to lead guitar player, what's your 20 ?, could we try that lead break again,... over...."  , "10-4"
