X1b Producer & M-Audio Project Mix IO

Having issues getting SONAR to recognize the Projectmix -- searched the forums and some good info out there, though no specific answer to this issue I could find.   Here's what I did:
Installed latest drivers from M-Audio web site & connected the ProjectMix -- opened the ProjectMix software and it saw the unit.
Started Projectmix in SONAR mode
Configured control surface in SONAR as Mackie and with ProjectMix Control surface MIDI in and out (as per ProjectMix manual).

SONAR control surface config box says "Connecting..." but does not seem to go beyond that.

When I move the faders on the ProjectMix, SONAR registers the MIDI data on MIDI track meters, but nothing else happens -- SONAR faders don't move, can't select tracks on the ProjectMix, transport doesn't work, etc.

So, the PC sees the ProjectMix.   SONAR sort of sees it, as it looks like MIDI is coming through, but that's about it.

The ProjectMix manual is sketchy and there doesn't seem to be much available on the M-Audio forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Running X1b Producer on Quad-core with 8 GB RAM under WIN 7.

    Update:

ProjectMix is working as an audio interface with no problems, it's the control surface that doesn't seem to connect or be recognized by SONAR.    Must be something simple I've overlooked, but can't find it so far.

Had some similar problems with Sonar 8.5 and X1 and the only thing that sorted things out was a complete reinstall of Sonar and Projectmix.

Have to admit that I switched back to Cubase (X1 did a good job for Steinberg  ) and Projectmix works fine there.

Thanks -- I'll try a reinstall and also wait for Cakewalk tech support.

you must check the midi control surfaces and also the midi external in the options of sonar...preferences...etc...after that you must configure the control surfaces in and out in the control surfaces area as maudio control surfaces...both in and out. that”s all.
