Song for critique - Summer Girl

Hello all,

I've written and recorded a new song with my song-writing partner.  It's called Summer Girl.  We've written it to coincide with the release of a novel, so the lyrics come from the book.

We've recorded it with acoustic guitar, piano (from Garritan) and lots of backing vocals.

You can hear the song on our website - www.jonasandplunkett.com

I've set the song to play when you open the website.

All critique is very welcome.

Thanks!

Adrian

Most excellent. Your voices match up great.
I also really enjoyed "Spaceship", as well as "It Was You"
I really enjoyed the chord changes in "It Was You"

Gifted, talented... and then some. A light touch of Simon and Garfunkel. Musically impressive, engaging. Talk about the whole package (x2). Stunning vocals. Excellent musicianship. Top acoustic production. Bookmarked your site. Bravo, truly.

Thanks for this feedback. It's really useful to know the song is well received. I always wonder if I've missed something obvious in the mix.

I think I'll reduce the reverb on the main vocal, and bring the piano down very slightly.
We're aiming to release this is May.

l'll plug in ny headphones and check out your tune, Wildman.

    Cheers.

Well Done!!!  Caught myself tapping and bouncing to it. Couldnt stop listening.  Have you considered adding brushed/rimshot snare and kick to it?  Thats kinda what came to mind into it a little while, my foot kept looking for just that little bit extra even though the song doesnt really need anything.

    Again "OUTSTANDING"

Thanks again guys.  Mike - yes we did try some gentle percussion, but it ended up a bit messy.  So I went for "less is more"!

Very well done. Enjoyed the simplicity of this tune. Piano sounds really good and the guitar fits very nicely.

Sweet song.   I like how you arranged and mixed this in a very soft and clean way.  It's really perfect for this tune.

Very nice song, feel & lyrics.

I'd try to brighten up the lead vox a tad.

Well thanks to all your comments, and to the collective knowledge on this forum that has honed my recording skills over the years.

We've now released the track, along with a "B-side" (also aired on here previously).  The book is out in July.

The song has been used as the soundtrack on a stop-motion animation by the author to promote her book.

You can see the vid on our site if you are interested.

    Thanks again,
