Issues regarding opening old Sonar projects in X1b
I updated from X1 to X1b, and fixed some of my problems regarding crashing and freezing even before i can really use it. Thing is, is it really hard for X1(a or b or whatever) to open files saved from Sonar PE 7? I've been waiting for 10 minutes now.

I don't have PE7, but I did have X1 Studio that I just upgraded to Producer, and I noticed it took a while (not 10 minutes, mind you, but longer than necessary) to open the projects I initially created in Studio. I found that I was running Studio as an administrator in Win7, and not realizing the Producer was a separate install, I wasn't running as an administrator for it. I changed that and it worked ok. Not sure if this will help, but it might!

Tried running as Admin, and sometimes doing so even worsens it.

I was on the phone with tech support because I also am having mega issues with X1, and thought this might help. My issue is that AudioSnap transient markers and entire waveforms disappear quite regularly. Anyway, the "solution" that tech support gave me was: "Bounce down your audio. If the problem still persists, bounce all tracks, copy them into a new project" I did this, and bounced the tracks again when they were in the new project. This helped me at least get to the end of my project without disappearing waveforms/transient markers. Unfortunately, I saved the project and opened it again.. bam.. missing transients. Anyway, tech support seemed to think my problem was because I started the tracks in a different version than X1b.. Hope this helps!

I've heard, though I haven't tried it, that if you open up your old project in X1 in safe mode, and say "Yes To All" regarding loading your plugs, that all incompatability problems will simply disappear. But I'm sceptical.

But I'm sceptical. I have a slight variation on this open in safe mode and say yes to loading any plug-in you recognise. X1 seems to have a plug-in loaded by default for playing loops, this is not present in previous incarnations of SONAR and I have found that with this loaded in old projects causes problems. The other twist I have found is once it is loaded without doing anything save it with slight name change to distinguish it. Close it. Close SONAR. Reopen SONAR and the project. That seems to sort most pre X1 projects.
