Need Help With OMF Export/Import

I'm trying to help a buddy out with some mixes. The problem is that he's a Logic user, and using a lot of soft synths. So this leaves me with some questions, as I've never dealt with OMF exports/imports in the past.

If he were to do an OMF export out of Logic, would it:

1) Bounce the soft synths to wave files? If not, I guess he'd have to do this manually first.
2) If so, would that include printing the effects? Or would it just export the raw AIFF files?
3) Would MIDI files be included in the OMF project or only audio?

I've resigned myself to having to recreate the mix, which is fine. But I want to make sure I'm getting all the files I need to do so, and not going to leave anything out. I'm also worried about running into sync'ing issues if the MIDI doesn't get exported out too.

Is there anything else those of you familiar with importing/exporting OMF files think I should know?

OMF's file only do the audio that is in the file so any MIDI thru Plug-in Instruments or Effects thru plug-ins or EQ will no be in the file.

He would have to bounce each track to consolidate them, so that they are all audio files with whatever FX used in them. If he bounce each track it should have the zero time stamp so sync-ing up shouldn't be a problem, but the OMF file should do the sync-ing for you anyway.

Then when you open the OMF you'll have the complete song as he hears is. Without the levels or pan

Otherwise you'll have to use Instruments and plugin and work with the raw recordings.

Also take note of the Tempo and set your project to it before you import the OFM file as this will save you a whole lot of head aches.
