Record able MIDI tracks?

Hi there,

Is there any way to make a selected trakc automaticly "Record On" record able?

Or is the only way:

1. Mark the track
2. Click on "R"

And when choosing a new track, you have to click the "R" button again to make it "Record Off"

It seemes to be a waste of time, the track You have choosen should be "ready" to record right away.

Trix & Tips are welcome

Under Preferences (P) Midi->Playback and Recording the first check box is "Allow MIDI Recording without an Armed track".
No such setting exists for Audio.

You do have to select the track that you want to record on but in any case you have to select which device input is going to be used for that track. If you have enough of the track headers exposed the R button will be visible on all your tracks.

A lot will depend on your work flow. You can access these functions on the track header, in the track Inspector and on the Console View.

In the Control Bar in the Mix module there is a global arm/disarm button also for mute, solo etc etc.

I thought I'd give this matter some thought and how it could be achieved.

in X1's default setting you have the Console view in the Multidock at the bottom of the screen,
By eliminating the meters and fx modules in the CV and set Narrow all Tracks I was able to see the MSR buttons and track numbers for over 24 tracks.

All it took was 1 click on the Record button followed by a press of the 'R' key and I was recording away. Not too big a problem to tackle. Pressing the Record key also made the Track View for the selected track visible so it covered all things required to record and monitor the creation of the wav.  Because the Track Inspector is also visible in this default screen setting I was able to monitor levels as well. You can save that as a Screenset.

hope this is helpful.  Screen Shot below.

When I have a few instances of soft synths with 4-16 instruments/outputs on each I prefer a separate arming of a track. Otherwise the risk of accidentally messing up things is so big.

Often functions like these protect us from ourselves :o/ I don't trust myself enough.
