BUZZ on AUDIO Track
I've been driving myself nuts trying to resolve this to no avail. I have a Toshiba laptop (I3 processor, 4gig of RAM) I'm trying to use a TASCAM US100 soundcard to record with. I can get all my MIDI stuff to work flawlessly, but whenever I add an Audio Track and activate it I get a loud buzzing sound and the instrument is totally distorted. If I go ahead and record it, the track playback is clean. It's just impossible to record like this. I'm using a cakewalk vsti to play the midi back with. I'm using the WDM/KS driver selection in the AUDIO pull down and have set both record and playback to the selectable USB codec and run wave profiler. I've set the power to best performance in windows and turned off windows sounds. What am I missing?

don't use the usb codec, that's just windows' generic usb drivers. try using ASIO driver mode and see if that helps. FWIW, I do not like tascam's soundcards. their drivers are substandard IMO.

There is also no mention of what version of MC is being used..... 2, 3, 4, or 5.

one thing: you need to run MC5 in 32 bit mode in W7

I'm running MC5 in compatibility mode, is there something else I need to do? I also tried to select ASIO driver but nothing appears in the drop downs for selecting input/output. Looks like the US-100 uses the generic WDM drivers.

TRy to download a driver called ASIO4All and see if that works better for you. Read the instructions on their site prior to install.

I had this problem but I was using M-Audio drivers. After you redesignate your drivers and you still get the noise, try unplugging your laptop and see if the sound goes. If it does then you may have a ground loop. This is what I had. I bought a ground loop islolator and it works perfectly! If this is what you need then you also need to buy a couple of adaptors that will let you use 1/4 inch input/output because they are RCA leads.
