change Now Time to proceed forward

I forgot where to set the option to have the screen continue to scroll forward if you hit any edit during play back... instead of the now time just disappearing to the right off the screen. who remembers...

Options > Click Behavior in the Track View menu. This is where you set whether clicking will lock scrolling. But the Scroll Lock key should also toggle scrolling on and off, and that seems not to be working now in my X1b installation...?

Thanks, but I actually mean something different.. I think the word I should have used is PAN to the right. . If I make any click during playback, the now time just pans off to the right and the tracks stop moving. I want the tracks to pan with the now time as it goes off the right of the screen. there is a setting for this and I can not find it... any other ideas?

If by Pan you mean left right balance, so the sound "moves" to the right, then that's
Automation > Pan (click in the track where it says "clips" and you'll get the options)

Apart from that you've lost me.....sorry

'N' will keep the now time in view so it won't 'pan' out of view to the right. There's also a setting but I'm still looking.

This is the answer you are looking for. If you have the sroll locked when you click to edit the screen will not scroll with the now time,if you unlock it it does.Go to the options- click behavior  menu and make sure Left Click locks Scroll is not checked.

I did not know about the "n" trick. That is a pretty neat one. Thanks Humblenoise!

I get the same behavior Skarda. The Help file states the following:

The Now time is not smooth during playback or scrolls out of view  --
If the Now Marker scrolls out of view or off of the screen, press the SCROLL LOCK button on your keyboard so that SONAR follows the Now Marker.

This sometimes works momentarily but the unwanted behavior quickly returns.  For me, the now marker will continue scrolling off the screen if I click anywhere in the edit view (besides the time ruler). If I don't click anywhere, the screen will reset and follow the now marker as it scrolls through the clips as intended.  Does anyone else have this behavior?

Clicking the n key is a good work-around, but requires constant attention.

Scroll lock's not working here either.   It now behaves. Thanks for all the tips here.

Brundlefly and Teego, your posts regarding the options-click behavior worked for me as well. It did not at first, but subsequently turning OFF the Scroll Lock fixed the problem. Thanks!

You are welcome. I learned something myself on this, apparently the scroll lock on the key board is tied to the click behavior menu>left click locks scroll . Scroll lock works properly when this is unchecked it seems.
Edit: I just checked this out and scroll lock works either way(with menu item checked or unchecked) for me.

I think where I went wrong was thinking the Scroll Lock key could unlock (i.e. restart scrolling) after locking it with a click, but it doesn't; you have to click in an empty area of the clips pane to restart scrolling if you stop it with the click function.

Conversely, if you stop it with the Scroll Lock key, you can't restart it by clicking; the two function are independent.

I guess that makes sense, as there might be a circumstance in which want it to stay locked no matter what you do with the mouse.

    So we all learned something.
