Changing midi tempo against wav file imported in wrong tempo

Okay, so I couldn't get my midi controller to monitor in real time triggering trilogy on a complex project with lots of plugs. SO I exported the wav file out and into a new  temporary project, tracked the midi bass with the controller with the expextation of just copying the midi part back into the original project. Unfortunately I forgot to set the tempo of the temporary project to the same tempo as my actual project(133) and now when I copy and paste the midi back in to my actual project the timing is off. Apparently even though in the temporary project I was tracking is against the wave file that is still "sounding" 133bpm (even though the project was default to 120bpm,the wave file is not stretched in any way when you import it) my midi track is recorded into a 120bpm context. The problem occurs I beleive because when I copy the midi file from the 120bpm project to the actual 133bpm project it will not line it up correctly or stretch it automatically.
I have tried:
1)Turning off the tempo checkbox on copy dialog and on import dialog when copying the midi file
2)I have tried changing the tempo on the temporary project to 133 then copying and pasting into the actual project(120bpm) but it is still way off.

I hope I am explaining this clearly. Any ideas how I can get this thing to sync when copying the midi back in?

retracking is going to be your best option, IMO.  another way to fix it would be to bounce your MIDI to audio from the temporary project then import the wave file into the real project.

Spinedoc, if I'm understanding you correctly - there wasn't a need to export the tracks and start that new temporary project.  You could have just bounced down to audio there in the original project.  After bouncing, you mute and archive the MIDI tracks, turn off the synth.  Now you have freed up CPU power, and you're still there with the right tempo so you can record the bass track-- Maybe that's still an option at this point - if I've understood your post correctly.

    Thnaks for the input guys.

Rbowser:I exported the project to temp one because of the dozens of plugs that induced latency were interfering with real time midi triggering. I could bounce down all the tracks and then turn all plugs off but it was easier to just export a temp file to a project and track midi against that.(if i   remembered to set the tempo in the temp project correctly, doh!)

Beagle:an audio bounce of the midi is probably the best way to go now from the temp project. I was hoping there would be a way so I could get the midi correctly in but I guess not.

    Thnaks!
