Make sure you have selected the right tracks and timeline before exporting or bouncing. I usually drag along the timeline at the top of the track view between start and end positions (usually markers) and then drag vertically down all the tracks on the left of the track view where the tracks are numbered (or else CTRL-click on selected tracks (or mute any unneeded tracks). Then you should be able to export or bounce.

Where are you routing your tracks?

What options are you selecting in the audio export dialog box?

If it's a stereo wav you're expecting as a final output, you should be using export, rather than bounce.

You have to be sure the track has been selected AND that the DATA or clip in the track is HIGHLIGHTED.

I usually right click IN the clip or double click the track to highlight the entire track so it turns a darker color... once that is done, then click Bounce to Track/clip.

If I forget, the bounce happens in 1 second.... I know I forgot to select data... a bounce should take a few seconds to complete depending on the FX or VST in the bin....and you should see the progress indicator moving to show it's happening.

If it's a soft synth that requires bouncing, then there are 2 scenarios:
    1. You have separate Audio & Midi tracks: BOTH tracks need to be selected before attempting to make a bounce, otherwise you'll get the dreaded "No audio data was found" message". Once they're both selected you can restrict the time range via the timeline at the top of Track View
    2. You have a simple instrument track: Select the entire track (or part of it via the timeline) before bouncing.

I do Crtl+A to select all, then File, Export, then mix down to wave using the "what you hear" preset.

So, go back to the first question asked:

Where are all your tracks being routed?

Hopefully they're all routed EITHER directly to a master bus (inserted by you), or to an intermediate sub-buss (again, inserted by you) which is in turn routed directly to the master bus.

The point being that if any of your tracks are routed directly to the Main Outs (Soundcard) then don't be surprised if the results aren't "what you hear"

Once you've got your routing structure set up, export using Main Outs
