Lost in the Waves V8 Maze...
Hello, Having heard of the many issues some fo you encountered with Waves plugins in 64 bits, I bought a "no brainer deal" to try their AudioTrack gadget on my Sonar X1b (64bits) running on Win7 - 64bits. The "V8 install" went smoothly and the plugin was performing just fine. This led me to (re)invest further in the Waves' collection. A first attempt to install the bundle left me with a complete listing of the Waves followed by "(0)", including my previously well working Audiotrack... I retried three times with an equal result. - I've made a complete uninstall of previous installation(s) and deleted the folders and the Waveshell 8.0 as well (it installs in two places...)
- The Ilok is showing the licenses
- The installer followed the same path and routine it did when installing Audiotrack...
- I've double checked the presence of the added folders in the VST FX list appearing in the Plugin Manager Window. Anyway, Sonar sees all of them but list them with an added (0).
- As an added note, I own a old basic (NPP) collection that I used when I was working in 32 bits. These plugs were still used in my Samplitude mastering program. As the V8's cannot coexist with pre V6 versions, I've lost them once and for all BUT, Samplitude 8 can't see the newly installed Waves bundle... (Waves is not DirectX compatible anymore?)
I have no clue about what I could miss or the mistake I've done, if there's any. Waves Audiotrack was working like a charm this morning. Now it just displays its GUI while passing no sound. Same thing for the others... Someone can help? Thanks in advance

I know you've probably done this but when you ran the installer you did select the bundle as well as the plug? The Waves installer is fairly non-intuitive.

Yes... I checked all I had to install and all the Waves dll's are in proper place + the Waveshell, as suggested by the installer. Thanks for the answer!

I had the same listing you did with plugs followed by (0). Used shell2vst and jbridge, and in plug-in manager checked the box to use the jbridge wrapper, now all Waves plugs list properly.

You are installing them into the "x86" vst folder aren't you?

yorolpal You are installing them into the "x86" vst folder aren't you? ---------------- Yes. That's what was proposed by the installer. AMOF, after another twist and try... I have the plugins working into Sonar X1b 64 but the listing still affix the zeros... So far, so good, I can make with it but you raise a question : is your own Waves installation under the "64 bits" folder instead of the "x86"? Thanks for your interest in my problem! JP

To Craig: " I had the same listing you did with plugs followed by (0). Actually, even though there are (0) following the Waves PI's, I managed to have them working after another try! What's scares me is that I have not made anything different IMO. Are your bundles stored in the "x86" folder or into the "64 bits" one? No downside/compromise in using jbridge and shell2vst? Thanks again! JP

Hello and thanks for the hint. In fact, I have deleted all Waves folders and files in the uninstall process but have not gone as far as to edit the registry. Worth the try, I guess. Currently, I have the plugins working, now. The listing is still polluted with (0)s, but they load and sound ok... for the moment. Are yours into the "x86" folder on the "64 bits" one? Just curious as it has been pointed as a possible quirk. Do you use jbridge and shell2vst as well? Thanks in advance! JP

Perhaps the (0) is appended by the waves installer because that's the number of the first BitBridge teleport Server. Just a thought

There is nothing intrinsically different in the Program Files and Program files (x86) folders. It is purely an organisational matter for files. To Windows and programs they are just paths to files. The important thing is that SONAR's VST Plugin Scanner knows which folders to scan.

Pretty sure they're in x86, not at that computer at the moment; mudgel makes a good point. Studio One has no built in bridge which made jbridge and shell2vst necessary. There's no appreciable difference in performance in using jbridge in Sonar. Proper listing of Waves plugs is helpful especially for those plugs for which the user can choose the number of bands of eq, for instance.

For what it is worth, here is another trick I've found while wandering on some forums : http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=43067 Here is an excerpt from a post by "Fuseburn" thats was discussed on this thread : "I had terribly annoying problems with Waves on Win7 64 Bit and I finally found a solution ! - The user account control changes some things (coming from Win XP 32), but it's not that much: It's only relevant for older waveshells (5.0/5.2 etc, for all us Non-WUPers) which write their filter properties into the registry. These keys are located under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes. Whenever you encounter the famous "could not find any Waves Plugins, reinstall...blabla" simply change the privileges of the "Classes" registry key. Users need to have full access (right click on "Classes" in regedit), at least during the plugin scan - otherwise C1, Q1, REQ etc. won't appear at all. No need to install or run anything as an admin, just that single reg key ownership. UAC may be activated, no problems with that" ------ Apparently, there are a few things that can be done via REGEDIT. Any opinions about this? Could this apply to the "Waves problem" under SONAR X1b or previous incarnations? If some of you have other experiences to share, don't hesitate! Thanks! JP
