Crackles and Pops

I consider myself still fairly new to Sonar, but I've been making good progress.

One problem I've been experiencing is occasional crackles and pops on playback and I haven't been able to figure out how to prevent them. They occur two or three times during a three minute song and not in the same spots, so I'm not up against digital distortion.

I'm using the ASIO driver with the latency set all the way out to 4096 for playback, the highest setting. I've tried different graphics hardware acceleration settings. Still no luck.

It also doesn't seem to matter what the "complexity" of the song is, based on CPU usage. I do, however, notice a small spike in CPU percentage that coincides with the noise.

I've tried everything I can think of and could certainly use some help with my crackle problem.

Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
Do you have a virus scan running? Or any other program?
Have you turned off Microsoft System Sounds?
