Its copy-protected. Do you have an iLOK? It won't work without that.

LOL I found out after I bought the software and got it home that it needed one then I went and bought one. That's a good question as I didn't know what a iLOK key was until I got this software. I have heard of a dongle though because it is used for some 3d software packages. I'm not sure if I want to by anymore software that requires a iLOK key.

you can use the same ilok key for all other software that you buy. You just have to go to the ilok site to load it on your key is all. I personally am in favor of ilok, cuts down on the pirates.

I see we can not upload images here on the boards I am looking for an free image hosting site that does not resize the image (allows the same size of the image) to be uploaded. And allows linking to the image from other forums, etc. Jpeg upload is ok. Thanks

OK, the image works on your post - Now what exactly do you need help with? I see in the insert synth pop-up, you haven't asked for a MIDI track. Ask for that along with all of the audio outs from Fab Four. Have you used any soft synth before? If not, there's a helpful tutorial in the Sonar Help file. Randy B.

Randy I haven't got that far yet. I was getting a fuzz sound for any instrument or no sound. The no sound was from using asio4allv2 - did not work. Then went to MME 32 bit and got some sound but it was fuzz. After much work and help from cakewalk members found out the fabfour vst envelope hold knob needed to be almost to the right. What was giving me problems was that settings in the standalone (which are the settings in the vst) work and great sound. Cakewalk said to use the simple instrument tut for dropzone but that didn't work a member here said to not use it as such and things began working after finding out the HOLD knob needs to be almost all the way to the right. I am getting ready to set it up for midi in to fab four and fab four out to my realtek speakers. So any tuts for that would help. Also I got a Tascam us-800 so I guess configering will change when I have that set up and will probably need help doing that.

Hi - I think you would be best off setting up the Tascam first. That's a great unit, and will become your new "sound card"-- You'll be able to use Asio drivers, and be in business. Then go back to Sonar and Fab Four etc. Randy B.

The no sound was from using asio4allv2 - did not work. Then went to MME 32 bit and got some sound but it was fuzz. Wrong, wrong, wrong.... Get rid of asio4all and use your soundcard's ASIO driver. MME is defintely the wrong direction.

Sgotr, you have the stylin' Tascam US-800 interface. You need to get that set up. It will replace what you're trying to use as a sound card, it will use an Asio driver - and you'll be good to go--purt sure. Randy B.

+1 - Use only one soundcard which should be the best one you have. So EastWest Tech Support thinks they are experts on Cakewalk Sonar? I beg to differ...
