I don't know what to think of that.  Part of me dismisses it as "corporate cool," while another things they might end up with some fun weirdness.

Having said that, it's a risky venture.  Guitarists are notoriously conservative when it comes to guitar features.  Traditional Les Pauls, Strats and Teles always sell, while Fender and Gibson offshoots (gibson nighthawk and robot guitar are good examples) never stand the test of time.

I got that mailer from MF.  Looks interesting... but it has some of the flavor of the "Road Worn" promotion. In this day and age of corporate "if it won't make big bucks fast," are Fender stepping into the risk zone with some true experimentation/innovation, or is this a short-lived dress-up?

Speaking of the Gibson Nighthawk... one of the guitarists with the praise band in my Dallas church (15+ years ago) had one of the first ones to come out.  That was one sweet singing' guitar. I would love to have one some day - but they were such a limited production run I have a feeling that supply and demand will price them out of my zone.

    See it HERE

    Thoughts?

Ya ... sign of the economy/recession - people will give up good gear to Fender for cheap becuase they are broke - then fender will sell it and make 500% profit

My first few Fenders came from pawn shops.

Learning to buy a guitar at the pawn shop seemed like a right of passage.

For my first one a guitar mentor 10 years my senior had checked out the guitar earlier that week then he drove with me, pumped up my confidence, and sat out in the parking lot as I went inside and made my best deal.

    Good memories.

    best regards,
    mike

When will they open a shop for the rest of the pieces?  You know, kings, queens, rooks, knights and bishops?

Truthfully, I didn't hear anything new and innovative on the youtube examples. I think the range of tone in solid body guitars has been covered. Unusual looking, yes.  Compelling visually, a little. Tonally mediocre, definitely. However, with that said.

Put a cute girl or guy behind any of those guitars with autotune and they would definitely look fantastic from a marketing perspective.

I sound old and bitter I know.

Slab of wood.  Strings, tuners, electronics,  pickups.  Straight, playable neck.  Knobs. Jack.

I'm guessing these are what are commonly called "guitars".  Played by blokes who want to get laid and gals who want to show up blokes to be the ninnys and juveniles they truly are.

    Are they for sale??
