Issue With Lasso Notes in PRV

I've been running into this for a long time... Likely even back to 8.5 or earlier...

When I use the lasso to select notes in PRV, tho I'm careful to select only the notes I want...

If I have a chord (or multiple drum piece strikes simultaneously)...

Often, I select only a few notes of a few chords... say the top (Highest) notes only... and I'm certain no others are anywhere near the lasso select area...

A random (apparently) few of the lower notes get selected along with it....

Frequently, this appears to happen when the volume slider (of the lower notes) are within the lasso area... these are the volume controllers mind you, not the notes themselves...

I made certain that select controllers along with notes is NOT checked...

I don't believe this should be expected behavior...

Anyone else???

Keni

I don't know if it's applicable to X1, but in 8.5.2 (and 8.5.3) the README has a section at the very bottom called "Piano Roll lasso behavior".  It describes a new registry switch (AllowLassoVelInNotesPane) that allows you to exclude notes when only their velocity lines are lassoed.

    Thanks...

I've found the notes in the read me and from what it says, this appears to be new for 8.5... so here's hoping it works in X1...  Weird that this one requires a regedit instead of an ini switch...

    Yeah, Baby!

I think it's working (X1b)... Time will tell as I never was able to see where they were getting selected... I know it's supposed to be the top of the velocity lines...

    Thanks again...

Good find tparker24. This will be useful.
It's also in the X1 manual, once you know what to look for:) Page 670.

Keni: yes, weird this requires a registry setting. Could be a tick box in Preferences perhaps.

    Cheers, Peter.

Better a weird setting than none at all tho, eh? ;-)

I wish I had found out about this in 8.5.3 as it drove me nuts there too!

It goes to show that no matter how much you read/learn, there's always more!

    Rock it!
