X1 synth rack

Hello again!
Being synth and midi challenged, I watched the master class vids on Session Drummer and it looked so easy. My question.......my synth rack looks NOTHING like the one he is using, is his version of Sonar not X1??
I know this seems like a dumb question and it probably is, but after close attention to what he was doing, when I bring up my stuff it is completely different so nothing works like on the video?
Thanks, Jim

I'd have to check out the videos but it's possible the browser is docked in the Multidock  - this puts the synth rack into horizontal position and allows for the use of the assignable controls. These in turn are also not enabled by default, but are revealed by the use of the two buttons at the bottom right of each synth in the rack. One button to show the bar where the controls live, the other to assign them, which is how you get them to appear. It's a bit convoluted but functional - you have to click on the assign button, then open the synth's main control window and click on the controls you want to assign to the in-rack controllers, then click again to un-select the assign button, and it will display dedicated knobs for whatever controllers you touched. It remembers them for next time, so you only need to do this once per synth.

Of course, since I didn't bother to check the video, it's possible that that's not what you were talking about at all... but maybe it helps you anyway?

Are you watching the "Five Part Drum Production Master Class" or the "Two Part Drum Production II Master Class"?
The five part looks like it was done in Sonar 8.5, not X1. The two part class was in X1.

I haven't watched these in a while so I can't comment beyond that - I'm just pointing it out in case that could be the difference.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!
