Acronis help
I am getting ready to install X1b. I bought Acronis 2011 in order to get a system image before I start. Acronis has three methods for disk backup (not including files and folders). - “Disk/Partition” - “System” - “Disk Method” I am going to use all three just to me safe. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference and which one you use. It is very confusing. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom, I'd backup the entire C: disk (including MBR). Also, make sure you run msconfig (Microsoft Configuration Utility - Startup Tab) to shut down the scheduling services that Acronis installs.

There are three terms and three ways to back up C:. I am wondering which is the best. By the way what is MBR? Thanks for the tip on shutting down the services. Tom

Jim Roseberry Also, make sure you run msconfig (Microsoft Configuration Utility - Startup Tab) to shut down the scheduling services that Acronis installs. May I ask why? I thought this is necessary for any Acronis image creation task to occur, whether it is scheduled or started manually.

I thought this is necessary for any Acronis image creation task to occur, whether it is scheduled or started manually. I don't like extraneous things running in the background... (managing tasks that don't need to be managed) I take it one step further... and do all my backup/restore via the True Image Bootable Rescue CD. True Image need not actually be installed on the DAW. You can create/restore any backup image this way...
