Is There a Way to Preserve Track Colors....?

...when adding and deleting tracks? I had a very recognizable orange colored track, let's call it track 10. It came time to rearrange and delete some tracks and my orange track 10, became track 8 and now it's a different color. Is there a way to 'lock' those track colors so they don't change when rearranged?

How did you get that color? Is it one you selected or is it part of the track color scheme? I think if you were to color the track via the inspector it will at least get you the color you want. The way Sonar uses colors for tracks is to associate a color to a track number from the color scheme set up in the color options in preferences.

The color just showed as you suggested from "a track number from the color scheme set up in the color options in preferences." I suppose if I set the color in the inspector it wouldn't over ride that color when changing track numbers. Too simple and not at my DAW right now so I'll test later but that makes sense.

No, no, I didn't say it wouldn't stop Sonar from using its color even if you did it from the inspector but it might. Lets hope that a user color will be respected from the inspector. But there is no guarantee.

Yes, that's exactly what you need to do. Change the colors via the Inspector and they won't change when you delete other tracks.

On a bright note I have noticed that X1 will respect the track colors from old projects so it might just do so from the inspector too.
