Inconsistent Linked Midi clip behavior in X1

I have made this example as simple as possible, so please keep that in mind before suggesting alternative ways of doing this.

I record 4 bars of one note starting at measure 2.  I ctrl+click to copy drag this clip to measure 6.  So far so good.  Clips are linked (dashed lines appear around them).

I realize the note is slightly too long so I double click on the first clip, use then using the smart tool in PRV to shorten it from the right side.   Both clips show this note now shorter.  I decide I'd like to move the note up one step, so I hit the 8 on the num pad...both clips update to show the new note.  Now I want to nudge the note's starting poing forward.

If I do this by using the smart tool and grab the left side of the note, it shortens the note in clip A, but it also shortens the  note in clip B from the RIGHT side of the note, so the timing of these desired identical note clips is now wrong.  Also, if I simply nudge the note in Clip A  forward, it doesn't make this same change to the equivalent note in Clip B.  I believe this is a bug because I used to use this functionality all the time in 8.5 - correct the timing and length of isolated notes in linked clips and it would update all clips.

This is a big deal - I've assumed that all aspects of edited notes were linked.  I just happened to catch this because I was zoomed in and noticed the note I nudged forward by 6 clicks appeared in a different spot relative to the measure marker than its linked note in other clips.

Linked clips are less than worthless with this inconsistency--they are downright dangerous, because you could think you've made lots of subtle timing edits and they aren't propogating to the rest of the clips in the project.

All inconvenience aside, X1 is no longer even an option for me until this is corrected.  It is back to 8.5 for me.
