Problem with MIDI using X1b QF and Axiom 61

I hardly ever use midi, except in the "simple instrument" mode. With 8.5 I never had latency problems around 128 to 512.
However using mid1 with X1 for the first time, I have a latency problem of maybe a half second or so between keyboard stroke and sound while recording.  Also when I play back I only hear ever other note or ramdom notes.
Im sure Ive set something wrong as all has worked well before today's try using X1.

Im using an Axiom 61 keyboard.
Id appreciate someone using Axiom keyboard to advise me on where to look for problem.

I use RME fireface and have both Sonar and FF800 on 128 buffer setting. (have tried 64 with same problem)

Thanks,
Jeff

I got it to work. with no apparent latency...but had to freeze some tracks.
I ONLY HAVE 5 TRACKS TOTAL...!...  so something is wrong with my setup.

    help appreciated.

better solution was to "bypass the effects bins"
I will find out "which" effect was the culprit later.
Guess it's always best to lay down any midi "before" mixing....if ya want workable latency.
    Lesson learned today....

Jsut stay away from FX that need Plug-in Delay Compensation because they use extra buffers for processing. Common offenders are convolution reverbs like Perfect Space, and several of SONAR's plugs, including LP-64 Multiband Compressor, and TS-64 Transient Shaper.

EDIT: Also note that it's usually not enough to bypass them, they have to be unloaded completely from the project or SONAR will maintain the extra latency so that they can be toggled back in at any time. It will usually also be necessary to cycle the audio engine (starting the transport does that) to get rid of latency with input monitored tracks.

If you have PDC plugins in the project another option is to use the PDC override feature. Click teh PDC button on the control bar and any live inputs will not be delay compensated so they will have no delay.

Good point. I should have mentioned that. But that only works if the plug requiring PDC is not on the track being input monitored, correct?
