Date night April 8th, 2011 - update.

Ambrosia at a local club (seats about 300).

I wonder if Burleigh will see me in the sea of people and remember me from high school?

    The show was really good.

Burleigh Drummond (the drummer) and his wife also have a group called Tin Drum. They were the opening act.  Their son (Burleigh also) joined in on percussion. We at with a guy and his son who know the Drummonds. We sat right at the edge of the stage. The guy we sat with knows the guitar player from Tin Drum. After their set, the guitar player, Larry, came and sat with us. Very nice guy.

The middle act was a BOOOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGG wanna be dance club singer. Completely out of place IMO.

Ambrosia was in top form. Joe Puerta was hot on his Factor bass thru an Ashdown amp (looked like a 6 or 8 10's). A fiddle player friend of Joe's from Wisconsin joined them for "Holding On To Yesterday".

As David Pack is no longer with the group he was replaced with a singer/keyboard/acoustic guitarist and an electric guitarist/singer. The additions were not cheesy imitations but well added compliments to the original Ambrosia lineup (IMO).

I heard a live album by them a few years back with a guy named Shep(?) on lead vocals who did a great job.  Is he still with them, or was this another singer?

What is this thing you call a 'date' and where can I get one?

    Greg
I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

I'll make it up to ya Mike. Next movie night is a double header. "Eraserhead" followed by (The Monkees) "Head". I think we'll need lots and lots of pop corn.

In case anyone is interested, Ambrosia will be at The Coach House on 4/15.  I probably won't be able go--but you never know.

I've seen them many times.  The first was around '76.  They were the second act on a show that was headlined by The Strawbs.  Some unknown band called Return To Forever was the opening act!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?
