Fixing Control Surface Issues (Projectmix)

I had a problem with getting X1b to recognize my M-Audio Project Mix as a control surface.   Contacted Cakewalk tech support who sent the reply below.   This worked, and may fix other problems, so thought it was worth a post.

1. Open your Run prompt in Windows by going to Start | Run (If in Vista/Windows 7, hold down the Windows Key on your Keyboard and hit the "R" button)

2. Type in the following and then press "Enter"

%appdata%\Cakewalk

3. Navigate to your SONAR X1 Producer Edition Folder and delete the following file

TTSSEQ

4. Relaunch SONAR and following the on screen instructions.

You're not doing anything wrong as the supplied mackie driver dates back to 2006 iirc and is not ACT compatible! That's why you can't tick the ACT box. I'm using a Mackie MCU Pro  and it will only see effect plug-ins and not soft synths. That's just the way the driver works. We need an update and quick!

No problem Aklooper. The problem could only be fixed by an update to the driver to give it ACT capabilities. There has been no new driver in all that time but fwiw, if I were a programmer I'd have made one by now! There are many Mackie users (and no doubt many Projectmix users) on this forum who all agree that an update is long overdue, but until it happens..........

@pscherer And now the projectmix works fine as an audiointerface and control surface with Sonar X1? I could purchase a projectmix for 666 euro here in germany. Is it a good piece of gear for X1 right now?
