Now That I've Been Using Sonar X1 Studio...

Can I uninstall Sonar 8.5?  I only bought it back in December to get the free X1 Studio.  I just don't want to break anything in X1 by uninstalling 8.5.

Thanks.

Yes, you may have to reinstall some plug-ins if you do that. You're better off just leaving 8.5 installed. It doesn't take up a lot of space.

If you really want it removed, it would be best to remove both completely and then reinstall X1. But again, I would just leave 8.5 and not deal with the hassle.

Skull won't have any SONAr to hump anymore.  On second thought, maybe you don't want Skull around your computer if it does have SONAr one it, esp. 5.2

    ;-)

But no, uninstalling 8.5 shouldn't harm anything.  I can't think of anything it will help, either.  I think I've got everything back to SONAR 7 on mine.  They just sit there, hoping I'll open them up one day.

I tried uninstalling previous versions and had gobs of problems. As annoying to my OCD as it is to look at all those folder entries you're better off leaving it there. Maybe on a fresh DAW rebuild you could install all the old ones and just install the plugz...that's really why I keep the old versions around.

But, to speak to that other post, I would totally keep 8.5 around, especially if you started projects in it and migrated to X1. The only X1 probs I've had are these projects and it's nice to know if I'm in a session I can open the project in a version that won't crash.
