I'm starting to give up :(
I can not understand what it is that is wrong! I'm starting to give up and send soon Sonar X1 to the trash, and reinstall my old Sonar! 1) Like me, many have had the same problem with the synth rack is closed or shut down! ( http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2277009) For me it has never worked satisfactorily and I had to look in the manual to see how to open the synth rack. After I turned off the sonar and opened the application and the file was the synth rack closed again. 2) Sonar crashes all the time for me! I have tested two sound cards, both are from Creative, one usb card E-mu Tracker Pre and the SB X-Fi Xtream Audio PCIe. E-mu Tracker Pre works best and crashes just one out of two times. While X-Fi crashes every time... Ok, if it were some of the VST instruments that caused the problem, but I use cakewalk own Dimension Pro. These errors have I suffered out since day one and the updates have not helped. And, in the current situation, I can only say don't get Sonar X1. It has never worked on my system! cheers/ NON

Don't give up. When you get it figured out it will be worth the troubles you are experiencing now. Keep it simple... get it working... do your best... take a break... come back to it when you can. Good Luck. best regards, mike

I have tested two sound cards, both are from Creative, one usb card E-mu Tracker Pre and the SB X-Fi Xtream Audio PCIe. It doesn't help that you have 2 such crappy soundcards. Don't you read everyone telling people to stay away from Creative products because they have poor drivers? The Emu is better than the SB. Disable the SB completely or take it out of your computer and you might have better success.

Generally, the consumer audio cards will choke when you try to run a pro audio app.

You "am" suspecting... as there has been no confirmation that the Emu or Creative are the culprit. :-) I've found that latency issues are common with consumer grade cards, but I've never personally seen a Creative or on board card I couldn't use dependably. They usually work just fine. best regards, mike
