Midi notes have clicky attack during playback

I am getting a slight clicky sound at the start of some midi notes during playback. It is not the typical click or pop that we all know when we are going beyond our computer’s capacity to handle audio processing. It is at the very start of a note that has a fast attack like a piano or a lead synth pad. Some instruments like my Kontakt pianos have maybe 10 or 20 percent of the notes doing this. My East-West Pianos don’t do it with the Steinway but they do it with the Bosendorfer about 10% of the time. It is not obvious and loud but it's there. It isn't distortion, as my levels are way down and an adjacent note of similar level doesn’t do it. I really would like to know what the cause is so I can get rid of it. Any suggestions?
