Finding The Key???

Hello everyone,

Today my Uncle and I are going to record a song for his Birthday, which is today as well. Nothing serious just us having fun with a song that is an inside joke in our family. The song is by Tom Jones 'It's Not Unusual.'

I was wondering how I figure out what key my Uncle sings in and then I can transpose the midi file to match his key. Anyone have any advice on this? Or since its not a serious track for us, just go at it and not worry about the key? Either way, I think it would be good to know that for the future...

Fun project - I think you mean you already have a MIDI track for the song?  I would just play the track, have him try to sing it - if it's a no go, start transposing up or down as needed, 1/2 step at a time.  - Pretty straight forward really.

    Randy,
Do you go into each instrument in the Midi file to transpose it up/down?

Select all midi tracks accept for drums and percussion and transpose everything at once.
