can the tascam US 1800 track 8 out simultaneously?
I asked my drummer to buy the Fast track ultra 8r to use with my Sonar X1 on my laptop, and the guys at GC assured him, he could do the same job with the Tascam US 1800. and since it's less expensive, he went for it, not know much about computers. I humored him and messed around with this thing for 4 hours straight, and all I can get is 4 different tracks simultaneously, just like the specifications say. 4 out.... So I read in a blog of some guy saying as long as one has the latest driver, it works. I got the latest driver. Still nothing. So, is there any one out there who bought one, and is successfully using it with Sonar X1 and is recording 8 tracks simultaneously? GC is giving us 14 days to return it and get the full amount back, we used up 1 already, today going on 2 days. Thanks in advance!!!

tascams drivers are crap. some systems they will work in, some they don't. it's a crap shoot. also, don't believe the sales drones at GC. most of them don't have any idea what they're talking about but think they do. personally if i were going to GC to buy an ultra 8R and the sales drone tried to change my mind into getting a cheaper unit from tascam, I'd have to wonder why. the tascam should give you 14 simultaneous inputs to sonar, but I have never owned one (and I never will because of the hit and miss drivers). plus I'm still bitter at tascam over gigastudio.

Well...Time to hand it to the GC guys, I gotta suck it up and say sorry on this one, the US 1800 CAN track 8 out, in fact in can track 16 out simultaneously. Turns out I wasn't setting my inputs right. Once I set them up the right way, every thing worked flawlessly. Good deal

Hi. I was googling around and searching for an answer to my question. Can I get TASCAM US1800 to record multitrack simultaneously. If I plug in 8 microphones, can I record all 8 microphones separately each mic on each track? Is this working so or it is just for 4 tracks recording? Thank you and sorry for bothering you.

What confuses a lot of people is the way the ASIO input list is shown for some audio interfaces. Tascam mic 1 Left is channel ( mic ) 1 Tascam mic 1 Right is channel 2 and so on. Tascam Mic 1 Stereo is a stereo recording of both ch 1 and 2. Only odd numbers are shown but the "right" side is the even numbered channel. Example if you plug guitar into input 10, then you select "Tascam instrument 9 Right."..You'll figure it out. It will record 8 XLR inputs into 8 tracks. Then there are 2 Instrument jacks, And on the back there are 4 line level, and then the SPDIF and the MIDI. You can record 17 things at once if you max it out. The drivers where sketchy with 32 bit, The 64 bit drivers have worked without any issue for me for a couple of years now. That's on any computer system too. Only negitive is the Round Trip Latency is about 7-10 MS so not good enough for guitar rig type work.
