Popping Recorded in Live Audio Only

Hi, I've searched through old threads and found similar issues but not this exact issue.

I have SONAR 8 Producer 8.3.1.372.  I'm using a Mackie Onyx-400F (Firewire).  CPU info in the image below.  I'm having a problem where I get pops recorded into my audio at random.  I could record 4 times with no pops and the next 2 takes will have pops.  Then the next 8 won't have pops.  But when it pops, it pops through the whole recording at random.  I have taken snaps of my settings, my CPU info and my ASIO settings.  There is also an .MP3 of the last thing I recorded - a bass line:

I have had this issue since I've had this machine - got this version of SONAR and the Mackie Onyx at the same time with the computer so it's been a while.  I've just fought through it since I usually only do VSTi stuff (which never pops) but I can't take it anymore!  Please help!

Thanks!

What are you using for a firewire controller card?  That is usually the weak link.  It is recommended that you use a card with a T.I. chip set.
Also you didn't list your operating system.  XP service pack 2 has fire wire issues as well.

The OS is in the image linked above in the white box - Windows Vista Home Premium.

It's a stock Firewire card in my Dell.  Can I see if it's T.I. from Device Manager?

Yes.  Mine comes up under IEEE 1394 Buss host controller.  I've always used a separate card.

Because the pops are intermittent (sometimes there when you record, but sometimes not), you might want to consider your environment -- along with just your audio interface and drivers.
For example, is there a Windows program or service on your machine that only occasionally runs?  Have you tried disabling every non-essential service?  You might see if you can observe a pattern...
