Another Film/Trailer cue, "uplifting drama"

The whole time I was making this, I was just thinking, "Run Forrest! RUN!" haha

HEy this is a very nice piece.  You could have made your ending stronger. Make the last run up louder,  and by louder i don't mean turn up the volume,  i mean orchestrate it with more dynamics,  more percussion,  a wider range in the instruments,  more defined.  Perhaps a slight **** then your last note should be softer.  Less instruments,  perhaps one of the string sections (2nd Violins or Violas)  and play that last note perhaps with harmonics or mutes on.  The contrast would be great and more musically effective.

Also,  you should consider moving your melody around the orchestra a little more.  After the piano has established a line,  let the violins play your melody then back to the piano or perhaps another Orchestral family.  You should also be using Woodwinds in a piece like this,  you are missing out on a lot of different Orchestral colors not having them.

Having said all this,  it is a very nice piece.  You show great promise.

Thanks for the comments Jimbo :)

I do agree that the final run could be stronger and tighter. I'm kinda of just cranking out tracks very quickly (this one was just a few hours, barely mixed and thrown right up on YouTube), probably two more little cues like this and then I'll go back and do some touching up on everything before launching my website.

I'm designing this little series to target trailers more than anything, and from what I've seen they tend to be pretty repetitive and driving, so that's been kind of my strategy lately. Just quick little bursts of catchiness.

And there are woodwinds in this :) Just flutes and clarinets. They are very much in the back seat though, mostly just playing octaves to enhance the lead melodies. You should hear the flutes kick in right when the piano finishes the lead for the second time, and the tubas do their first big hit. I couldn't find much room for them (woodwinds), because there's already (I think) all divisis of violins, violas, cellos, and a full bass section going, much less the brass.
