Dimension / Rapture install hell

Does anyone know how to get Dimension and Rapture, DXi and VST's installed from a Sonar 8 install, upgraded via 8.5 to X1 working for both 32bit and 64bit installs.

I made what I am now thinking is a mistake by reloading my machine, I previously had one 32bit Win7 partition with Sonar 8 and 8.5 installed and a 64bit Win7 partition with X1 64bit installed - that worked fine.

Now I am trying to have a single Win7 64bit install with 32bit Sonar 8 / 8.5 and 64bit X1 - the idea was I would keep the Sonar versions compatible with my files - but do new work in 64bit land on X1..

The big issue seems to be with the instruments ...   Dimension wants to fight with itself because X1 wants you to use the 1.5 version which has no DXi - and it won't accept a 1.2 Dimension upgraded to 1.5..

Rapture seems even more of a mess... I bought Rapture 1.1 and have the upgrades to 1.2.2; it seems you can't install both the 32bit and 64bit versions? so I have no idea what to do there... Ideally I want the 32bit version for Sonar 8.x and the 64bit for X1.

So, has anyone solved this mess?  if so, what is the correct install procedure?  I only have the download version of Sonar 8.5, so I have to start with 8.0, even though I won't use it...

I'm not sure about Dimension, but with Rapture, I think you'll need to install straight from 1.2 in order to have the choice to install 32 bit and/or 64 bit.  I had to complete a Rapture reinstall this past weekend and found that out.

OK - thanks, that might help with Rapture...  I make the assumption that 1.2 needed 1.1, but I guess that is not the case... I'll uninstall and give it a try in the morning..

For Dimension, I am beginning to think the solution is to stick with the original 1.1 install that came from Sonar 8, then update that to 1.5 and install the expansion packs from the separate install....  The conflict here came from the fact the updates on disk 4 of the X1 install won't work with a Dimension 1.1 serial number...

Guess I'll be spending hours re-installing software again tomorrow!

Spent another morning hacking this before giving in and admitting defeat..

In the end I reinstalled everything from scatch, 32bit only, and my projects load now OK in 8.5 and X1; no missing plug-ins and no screw-ups..

I'm debating if I now try installing X1 64bit on-top, but I don't want to screw things up now they are working..

For future, it seems the only way around this is to rework the existing projects, move all DXi instances of Rapture and Dimension to the VST and reinstall everything as 64bit.  The fact that DXi support is being dropped in the latest installs and it seems that both 32bit and 64bit VST's cannot be installed at the same time really screws things up!

Sorry to hear about your trouble with these instruments.

FWIW, I've got both 32-bit and 64 bit versions of Dimension 1.5 and Rapture 1.2 installed so it is possible for them to play nice together.  My habit is to install the 64 bit version first, then go back and install the 32 bit version.

Also, I've not installed the DXi version of these instruments, so don't know if that helps/doesn't help the software environment.

I hope you're able to get it straightened out.  I know how frustrating it can be and how many hours are sometimes needed to get things setup properly.
