"Slide Over Old to Make Room" Mode Still Broken?
Wasn't this issue supposed to have been fixed at some point, where dragging the left half of a split clip to the left causes the right half to move right when Slide Over Old To Make Room is enabled? Furthermore, when you drag the left half to the right, there is no rhyme or reason to how much the right half moves over to "Make Room". I would hope that it would move just far enough to remain butted up against the end of the first half, or maybe jump the next grid line if snap is enabled. This is another one of those real head-scratchers of a bug that's easily reproduced, has been around forever, and renders an otherwise useful function completely useless or even damaging. It's really bad when you're zoomed in aligning a clip, and you don't realize that the other half of the split clip is moving around out of view!

Bump. Anyone? A. Can you reproduce this? B. Do you remember a recent post/sticky saying it was fixed, or would be fixed in a pending update?

Hey Brundlefly, I just tried this ... yes, it's reproduceable (frankly, this is SO weird I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed !). I haven't used the "Slide over to make room" function for ages. I tend to "make" any holes I need manually ... As for a post saying it was fixed - I don't remember seeing anything, but maybe someone else can chime in here.

Yet another function that would be a true workflow enchancement if done properly, but is ignored over flashier superficial things that look good in promo videos. But why are you daring to use such advanced voodoo editing features anyway? Just drag loops from the browser to your timeline like a good cakewalk user, and stop stirring the pot!

Thanks for the confirmations, guys. Actually, I seldom have the Make Room mode enabled. Blend is more often appropriate for what I do. But I happened to be working on a bunch of clips of poetry readings and wanted things to move out of the way when I rearranged them. It rapidly became a disaster, and I reverted back to doing it all manually. I could have sworn I recently saw some mention of it being fixed. Guess I'll file a bug and see what I get for a response. I'm sure there are at least a half-dozen CWBRNs in Submitted to Development status by now.
