I Just Reverted Back To Quickfix Build 244...

...because the magnetic strength reverts to Medium in all new projects on my system. Back to 244 and it works fine again.

Couldn't you just change it to whatever you want it to be after creating a new project?

When opening a new project the Snap Property Magnetic Strength should persist from project to project as the default you set it at. Almost everyone has it set to 'Off'. But if you open a new project it will be set to Medium and if you set it to 'off' then reopen that project it will be set back to Medium as well.

Yes Seth but it reverts back to 'Medium' after doing so. I ALWAYS have it set 'Off' in every project. I looked in my current project after reading a post referring to the behavior and sure enough Mag Strength was set to Medium.

Tried it with my New Template file and it too was set to Medium. I set it to 'off', saved as a template file, reopened and it was set Medium again.

Unfortunately, that's not going to help. I can't fix it. I'm a part of the Product Marketing team. I don't code SONAR and have no way to fix it. And as you know, this forum is not a bug reporting forum.

You're the man StepD - nice.

It's funny, I've gotten used to a couple of fixes and the thought of going backwards in any way rankles me a bit.

And as Seth suggested, "If it ain't broke, don't quickfix it."

As long as we can roll back, I think it's worth taking the chance. This build has some decent fixes, but having to remember to change magnetism all the time is kind of a pain.

I'm now nervous about applying any of the Quick Fixes as so many people seem to experience problems.  I know there's a 'caveat emptor' and a rollback facility, but I assume these fixes will be incorporated soon into a X1C pukka tested patch?

When opening a new project the Snap Property Magnetic Strength should persist from project to project as the default you set it at. Almost everyone has it set to 'Off'. But if you open a new project it will be set to Medium and if you set it to 'off' then reopen that project it will be set back to Medium as well.

Just FYI, I found that if you set it to High, it will remember that, and not revert to Medium. It's not as strong as having magnetic strength "Off", but it's pretty easy to see the snap effect if you're not zoomed in to far.

John you have just asked what I have wanted to know. These quickfixes are tide me overs until Sonar X1C right? I am not really up on this sort of stuff. It does seem to me that things are kinda messy. First you have to download X1A and then X1B and then apply quickfixes if you were to buy Sonar X1 now.  I just installed Sonar PE7 straight out of the box and that was it. Three years later and we are still flying with no apparent issues for me. Then again I am not a power user or maybe I just got lucky. Who knows. It just all seems messy messy to me.

    Two things:

    1. The latest Quickfix is a cumulative "roll-up". X1b245 includes the fixes of X1b244. My understanding is QuickFixes (unlike traditional SONAR patches) will alway be cumulative so you will only ever have to install the latest one.

    2. There is a 7.02 patch for SONAR 7. I believe every release of SONAR since at least S4 has eventually had at least one patch issued.

    EDIT: IIRC, there's a 7.03 patch, too, but it's hardware-specific.

Couldn't you just change it to whatever you want it to be after creating a new project?

Yes Seth but it reverts back to 'Medium' after doing so. I ALWAYS have it set 'Off' in every project. I looked in my current project after reading a post referring to the behavior and sure enough Mag Strength was set to Medium.

Tried it with my New Template file and it too was set to Medium. I set it to 'off', saved as a template file, reopened and it was set Medium again.

Looks like this has been fixed in quick fix build 246, now available.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!
