Upgraded today to X1. ...my intial thoughts...

I installed X1 on a rather 'older' box- XP Pro with a Pentium 4)  (...for the record, my studio has a quad-core 6600 Pentium/ 6 gig of ram running 8.5.3- ...and I'm getting paid every day)

It took about 6 hours to download and install.  ...no problem...

I opened a sample project ("Dark European Space Adventures")

On this box, I experienced an initial dropout during playback (...disclaimer... the sound card on this XP box is a SoundBlaster.  However, I also have a Soundblaster on my laptop (duo-core processor) and I can make 8.5.3 work by adujsting the drivers)

So I looked for the place to change driver settings on the XP box with X1 and have yet to find it.  ...can someone point me to where I'm missing it?  Is this one of the 'new things' I'm not getting?

The Pro Channel defaulted to the EQ but I've yet to find the compressor...  still could be a bug in the user.

Anyway, I thought those kind of things should be 'easy'.  ...but maybe I'm not 'getting' it.

So your enlightenment is appreciated.

Or just press the 'P' key.

X1 seems to make you learn some basic keyboard shortcuts to make things a little easier.

Print out the Keyboard shortcut list from the Help File and keep it nearby, It's a great resource and will speed up your adapting to the new GUI and work flow.
