Using "go to my PC app" using laptop.

Has anyone tried "go to my pc" ap to connect to their studio computer while on the road?
Im wondering how well it works...will check price and download trial. It would be nice to NOT have to "transfer" data back and forth.

Thanks,
Jeff

i dont think  it is intended for use with large files like audio projects.  it would probably work with midi only.
    cool idea tho.

    Thanks Blix...
You're right...I did some checking around.

It would probably cost a fortune...to handle all that data.  I sure something will come along in a few years though to make it possible/affordable.

Why not use Microsofts Remote App and Desktop Connections. It's part of Windows 7, it's free, secure and you can use it for file transfer as well as remote control.

I have used "LogMeIn" in the past, but there is too much latency for it to be useful.

If one of your main issues is the "hassle" of transferring work from one computer to the other, I love love love Dropbox (www.dropbox.com) for syncing things between one computer and another pretty effortlessly.

if you have a static IP address you can configure your router and computer to use Windows RDT directly. And you can then connect from any other windows computer anywhere.

RDT can be used manually after using GTMPC to determine the current IP address.

The router needs to be configured to pass the RDT port to the computer and RDT on the computer will need to be enabled.

But: if you only have the HOME version of windows no RDT for you.

I use RDT with-in my house for connecting to the music, and the two office computers from various other computers in the house.

And I use RDT to maintain a number of client's computers. Very useful.
