Stumped: Only ONE Certain WAV File Will Not Import (???) SOLVED!
Need advice on this one: For some reason I can't import a certain WAV file. I downloaded from Drum Tracks's website. I also downloaded others from Drum Tracks and they imported perfectly. If fact I have never had a problem importing ANYTHING until now. - I shut down Sonar and played it on my Windows Media Player and iTunes player and the WAV plays perfectly.
- Any other damn WAV file imports perfectly in to Sonar.
- No sign of any file corruption.
- When I select the WAV file to import, and press the "Open" icon, it "looks" like it will import (the blue task bar moves from left to right.) When done, the track is blank and I "see" nothing.
Any ideas?? You thoughts/help would be appreciated!! Thank you! Kiki

This is rather obvious, but has to be asked: Have you checked the imported clip is not further down the project? Is there a dotted line to be seen on the track?
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Yes, I DID see the dotted line. Hold on... let me import again and check further down the project...

krsongs Ha ha! You are CORRECT Kalle!! It WAS waaaaaaayyy down the project! Why does it do that? I have NEVER had that happen to me before. THANK YOU Kalle!!!!!!!!! One thing to take a look at is Options>Global>Audio Data tab and see if Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp is checked. If so, unckeck it and try importing the wave file again to see if that had any effect.

If so, unckeck it and try importing the wave file again to see if that had any effect. This worked for me when bringing in some wav files recorded in protools. Nice one thanks

This thread solved my problem too! I was having the same issue, and that WAV file was wayyyyyyyyyyy down the timeline. However, I'm not sure where to find Options>Global>Audio Data Thanks, Adam.

AGershon I'm not sure where to find Options>Global>Audio Data It's just shorthand. From the "Options" menu choose "Global", which launches a dialog box with several tabs. Click on the "Audio Data" tab.

Fast forward to Sonar Platinum Pro in 2016, this advice still works. However, to find the solution, it's now: Edit>Preferences>Audio Data, then the check boxes.

Isn't this forum great? It took me a long time to figure this out several years ago. When I imported the wave file it ended up so far into the project that, when I hit the spacebar, it wasn't going to play until next Friday.
