crash and hang re-visited

Was this ever solved?

If I forget and click a cwp that needs to be shift clicked (to load the vsts), then Sonar hangs. Can exit it but it stays resident in services for 10-15 minutes and won't re-boot. Easier to re-boot than wait around.

On the same note... why doesn't Sonar fix whatever is wrong with the vsts's once you load the darn thing.

On still another note... is this solved in x1? I'm waiting till the clamor dies down over there to get x1.

FYI I left a note to tech about this... usually don't hear much though.

I don't have a problem with it hanging on VST's.  you likely are having a problem with a specific VST.

but I do occassionally get the "never closes" problem - a lot of people do.  it has to do with a MIDI port not closing on exit.  this apparently is something that is difficult to fix, they didn't fix it in X1 either.

Didn't know it was a midi port thing. Only happens to me when I forget to shift click.

It's probably not a SONAR problem, but rather an issue with one of your third-party plugins. I'd concentrate on identifying which plugin it is, and then try re-installing it or substitute a different plugin.

For some reason I have a lot of problems with SynthEdit-based plugins, which either crash SONAR or come up with blank UIs. Occasionally I'll pull up and old project that still has some in it. If the project hangs, the first thing I do is start it in safe mode and skip any SE-based plugins.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

It's Miroslav Philharmonik. I'll ask them. It's 32 bit in my 64 bit environment so maybe that has something to do with it. Usually, if they can, they say it's a Sonar or Windows problem.

I recently installed only 8.5.3  on an old dualcore laptop, no other plugs.
Latest driver and OS updates installed.
No hiccups atall until I load up with my MIDI keyboard attached.
Same midi keyboard on my X1 system and no probs.
    Curious...

    Either way it needs addressing.
Fair enough, I have X1 and use it.
But I also still use 8.5.3 and it wouldn't take much for an 8.5.4 would it?

....won't hold my breath on that happening lol
