Yamaha PSR-413 keyboard with Home Studio 7 XL

The above instrument has the facility to save up to 5 'user songs' into the keyboard memory. I wanted to transfer these to Cakewalk, but Cakewalk does not recognise the filetype, which is .bup
This appears to be a back-up only file.
I want to know if there is any way of converting this filetype to one that Cakewalk will recognise - otherwise I will have to start recordings all over again to be able to manipulate on computer.

Google is your friend. It only took 10 seconds. Hope it works.

I think this bup is what DVD-videos use for audio (??).

Does one song consist of several bups/tracks, or is there only one bup for the whole song? If it's only one file/track, then you can as well just record it as audio to SONAR.

OR...if a single bup contains several tracks (like DVDs 5.1) then maybe the converter separates them.

you should also be able to do a "MIDI DUMP" from the songs to sonar.  I've done this in the past with a PSR-293 but it's been a while.  look in your manual for "MIDI DUMP" and set sonar up to record.  I believe that it will put all instruments on one track (format 0) but it does work.

In the past, I just recorded each MIDI track one at a time with the others muted. A long time ago using MC 2003 and a Yamaha PSRGX-76. I didn't know what MIDI dump was at that time.

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

Thanks Beagle - I did try the converter over Easter break but it did not work - I cannot find MIDI dump in my manual but I will look into this further now I have at least heard of it!
