Groove Clips

I wanted to see if anyone knows what I am doing wrong here.  When I take an audio file I have recorded (usually guitar or bass) and turn it into a Groove Clip I always get a click or pop at the end of the clip.  I also have Live 7 and when I record audio there and create a loop I dont have that problem so I am guessing it is not the sound card or the recording source or pluggins being used.  I would rather just work in Sonar X1 and skip Live but I need to get around this.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
John

If your recorded audio doesn't start/end at a zero-crossing in the audio, you can get clicks/pops. SONAR doesn't automatically apply fades, but you can apply a fade to the clip yourself.

Either drag the upper corner of the clip to create a fade graphically or select the clip and choose Clips > Fade Clips in the Track view menu to input more precise values for the fade.

Thanks Scott I will give it a try.  I have been skimming throught the book and have been finding it helpful.  I like the larger format too.

Maybe you can point me in the right direction.  I have been editing the velocity of drum hits in the piano roll view.  I have been finding it difficult in X1.  I am trying to edit the velocity of one hit and it is also editing the velocity of a couple of surrounding notes.  I dont recall this problem in 8.5.  Maybe it is a setting I am using.  Can you point me to the reference in the book that may help.

    Thanks again..John

If it's affecting more thsan one note then you have more than one note selected.

Start by making sure nothing is selected (ctrl + shift + a), then select your note and edit the velocity. I find it easiest to simply enter the new velocity in the relevant box in the ControlBar, can't remember which section it is, but it's similar in form & function to the Event Inspector in 8.5.3

Thanks, John! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the book.

Yep, Bristol_Jonesey is correct. You need to make sure you don't have any notes selected in order to edit a single note.

Actually I just found an image on Google of the Control Bar - and it IS still called the Event Inspector.

There are probably several ways to change velocity, but I find this method the easiest.

I have to check in 8.5 I think I was able to just hover over the velocity lines and draw in the adjustments.  Now I dont seem to be able to do that.
