Disappearing Control Bar

Does anyone else have a problem with the Control Bar disappearing?

I often minimise X1 when I stop to do some other work, and when restoring it, the control bar is gone. By gone, I mean that the space it occupies is still there, but with nothing in it.

Pressing C still removes the space, and pressing C again restores it - but still no contents.

There is a workaround, if I float the control bar and then redock it.

Its not a major problem, but I did wonder if anyone else has seen it ...

Cheers
James

    you haven't mentioned which version of X1 you're on. Is it X1A, X1B, X1B245

If you're not on the latest patch, download and install it. That should fix it for you.

Mine did that last week but I have not tried it with 245 or 246. It happened when I minimized a project and the aximized it again.. the toolbar was gone except for the time in the middle of where everything should be. I miniized and maximized again and it came back. I am glad it is now fixed though.

Yes I too have this issue from time to time.
My workaround is to have Sonar minimized but stretched manually to fit the screen.
When the Control Panel disappears I simply nudge the size of Sonar at the edge and the CP magically reappears.
    Hope my explanation makes sense.
Toggling the CP with the shortcut key did not fix the issue in my situation like others have said that it did for them.

Apply the most recent Quickfix (246) which includes quickfix 245 where this problem was fixed.

In the empty space where the control bar was, right click, then click "show all" and it comes back. Takes maybe 2 seconds.

I had the same problem with the Control Bar disappearing after SONAR X1b, or earlier versions,  were minimized for a period of time.

I had even put in a problem report to Cakewalk..

The only workaround I found that would not reset the Control Bar to the default setting, thus losing all my customization, was to add an unused module, which then made the Control Bar re-appear in my customized format.

I then removed the unneeded module that I had just added.

The Control Bar was then back to normal until SONAR was minimized again for enough time to cause the problem to re-occur.

The problem has not re-occurred since quick fix build 245.

I was on X1b244 - updating now to hopefully cure it.

I'd missed the 245 quickfix anyway, so will go straight to 246!

    Thanks for everyone's responses.

Having installed the 246 quickfix patch, the problem still remains - if I open up a project, minimize it and do other things (in this instance, I was in a meeting elsewhere, so didn't  open up any other software), when I then restore the project, the control bar is grey, apart from the counter (see below)

If I try to dock the control bar at the bottom - it still stays grey. If I press C, it dissapears, but comes back grey.
They only way to clear it (apart from restarting Sonar) is to undock it, and then redock.

    Very odd!

    Cheers

Yes I still get the same problem also

but as mentioned in a previous post have you tried right clicking in the grey area
and then clicking the 'show all' option
When i do this the contents of the control bar reappear.

Nope I've still not tried that, but I will next time it happens, as its quicker. Its still a workaround though, so I should probably submit it as a bug report, unless someone has already done it?

Wonder why the 245 quickfix fixed it for me but not others.

You'd better report it as cakewalk will think they've fixed it properly when its clear now that under some conditions it is not fixed.

Unfortunately, I am still seeing this issue even in X1c. The issue only seems to occur for me after SONAR has been minimized for a few minutes. One thing that is slightly different from previous releases is that in order to restore the graphics, I used to un-dock it from the top and then re-dock it. Now I can just drag it a bit and then let it snap back to the top to restore the graphics. Nevertheless, I still wish they would find a permanent solution.

Hi eBlue ... this came up in another thread by a forum member named ThePose IIRC. He stated he got confirmation on this problem and it is caused by having Auto-Save enabled but it was not caught in time for the fix to make it to X1C.

I can confirm this on my system. Auto-save on: Tool Bar turns gray. Auto-save off: Tool Bar stays normal.

Hopefully another patch will be released before they ditch X1 and move on to X2 because there's still a few major things broken.

After having reported in April that QF 245 fixed this problem the subsequesnt fixes brought it back. In my case nothing to do with Autio Save as haven't had it enabled.

Now in X1C the problem is gone again.

Auto Save now enabled but problem not happening at all even after a liong time of no sccreen focus. etc.

Some are reporting that with Auto SAve enabled; the Control bar is still disappearing no matter the version of X1 and it wasn't fixed in time for this update release ie X1C.

    BUT:
For me X1C seems to have fixed it because it doesn't happen whether AutoSAve is on or off. To make sure, I've rebooted after changing settings just to make sure that anythig resident in memory isn't causing a problem to persist.

Yes I have upgraded to X1c, but yes I still get the auto-save problem. I can do the quick drag fix now, which didn't work for me before, so its not really a problem, but it would be nice to get it fixed :)
