timing issue

a bandmate of mine had asked me to play drums to a song with backing tracks included.the backing track is a rip from the original song.basically the way he has it set up is a few seconds of intro then an eight count and then i come in. At first i could not  come in at the correct time so i asked him to send me the backing track  so i could load it up against the original son in x-1 .Being  from another pc there is a timing drift issue. The original is from my pc so if i were to  re-exoprt it would that clear up the timing issue.Plus his count is about an eighth of a second off ass well but i can figure that part out i think..

is it pissable to correct this??

there shouldn't be any timing drifts due to different PCs.

are you both using the same sampling rates?  what soundcards are you using?
