Using PRV mode, only playe first note - help!

Hi all,

I'm a newbie so forgive me. I've added a track for a soft synth. I can play this on my keyboard OK, and record it OK. Now I want to use PRV mode to put down a pattern of notes. It sounds OK as i put the notes down, but when I click on the play button it only plays the first note. I can change this note, and even add a chord and it plays fine, but won't play anything I put after the first note.
 
I've opened some of the sample files that come with SONAR, put heminto PRV mode and no problems, so it seems to be something I am doing, or not doing!
 
I'm using Sonar LE 8.5.

    A bit more info. Itsdoes seem very unpredictable. I just recorded a tune, played back fine. I then adjusted it in PRV mode and now only first note will play.

    So the only oddity of my system is that I am currently using the onboard sound card on my PC. I was expecting latency (whcich I have), but could this also be causing issues on playback in Sonr? I have a Roland UA-1G on order - will this fix this odd issue? Current situation really makes Sonar unusable :-(
