bit depth issue

in X1, in the control bar window, the info tells me all py projects are 16bit. Older projects I recorded in 8.5 and that I am sure were 24bit are shown as 16bit.
Also, in >preferences, I don't seem to be able to change bit depth at all. I can check or uncheck the double 64bit precision, but the actual drop down shows a light grey 24, but I cannot select anything, the drop down menu does not even open.

Any ideas on this?

Apologies just re read your original post, what happens if you change driver from Asio > WDM or vice versa?

Edit > preferences > audio > driver settings.

Nope. That's the setting for the soundcard, and as native said it's greyed out. Which is normal when using ASIO drivers.

The setting that native needs is in Preferences->File->Audio Data. Set the record bit depth to 24 there.

This has been a longstanding usability problem and I'm really surprised that they didn't consolidate the 24 bit settings into one location in the preferences. It's been a problem for many users, and is a pretty blatant UI blunder.

And that'll be why your a gold member and I am but bronze ;-). I remember having that problem with 8.5 and didn't realise it was hiding in Global settings (?).

Thanks! Can I change that for a current project?
