VS-100 Hardware won't load

Was recording earlier today using my Sonar VS-100  Sonar X1 and everything was fine until the sound suddenly cut out.  Looking at the actual VS-100 unit I'm noticing it won't load the internal menu system, it's just stuck on the 'VS-100   V1.18(01A0)' screen and it won't register me pressing any buttons.

Has anybody had this problem before?  Is there a way to do a manual hard-restart on it, or do I need to update it's firmware?  It was working great up to that point.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Sounds like you may have experienced a surge or brown out.

The initialization section of the manual is page 53 & 54 of the hardware manual. Since you can't get into the VS-100, page 54 are the steps you need to try.

    1: Power off the VS-100
2: Hold down the ACT button and Comp/EQ button and while holding them down, power up your VS-100.
3: The screen should indicate "Factory Reset". At that time, release the ACT and Comp/EQ button.

If that doesn't work, you may need to try re-installing the firmware, however I would call Cakewalk before doing this. Not that upgrading firmware is hard or bad, but I'm not sure if it can be done when the unit is failing to start.

    Good luck.

    Hi codamedia,

thanks for the reply - unfortunately it's still frozen on the main screen.  I think I'll give cakewalk a call tomorrow or see if I can replace it at Guitar Center.  I'm really crossing my fingers that I bought the warranty now lol.
